The new Dando Terrier MK2 will also be on display at the upcoming Geotechnica show at Brunel University, UK, 6-7 July.
Dando attended the World Water Day Exhibition 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia along with its representatives for the government sector, PT Caturindo Karsa Manuggal Utama in May of this year.
The event was opened by the minister for Public Works and attended by key decision makers in the Indonesia government as well as representatives from all the key government sectors. Dando’s stand was the centre of attention and was personally visited by the Director of Ground Water Resources for Indonesia on the first day of the event who was keen to discuss water well drilling with our team.
Dando’s continued presence in the Indonesian market has led to the recent order of two highly specified Watertec 9000 rigs to the Indonesian public works department. The rigs will be used for irrigation and clean water provision in rural areas of Indonesia and the officials who visited our stand expressed how impressed they were with the support and service they had received from Dando, especially being able to easily communicate with local Dando representatives.
The second and third day of the show saw a continuous stream of visitors from different government departments with both the Watertec 9000 and 4000 rigs garnering interest, as well as the Dando Terrier for site investigation. This is a sector Dando has only recently begun to market in Indonesia and shows the promise for further sales in future. With a rapidly increasing population of 240 million and a booming construction sector Dando hopes to be well placed to get an early foothold in what is effectively an emerging market.
Dando has received new footage of its latest Multitec 4000 conducting H/N wireline coring through limestone to 150m in the UK.
Fitted with a Tier 4 final/Stage 3B 75hp diesel engine to meet European and North American emissions, this compact, powerful multipurpose rig can handle many tasks for mineral exploration, geotechnical, geothermal and water well drilling.

Dando Drilling International now offers a Standard Penetration Test (SPT) calibration facility at its factory premises in Littlehampton, West Sussex.
SPT is the most frequently used method for measuring the relative density of granular deposits. Tests are carried out by dropping a 63.5kg weight onto a specially designed sample tube. The number of blows required to advance the sample tube every 150mm is then recorded and the data used to calculate a standard penetration resistance or “N-value”.
As the test results are often used to make high-stakes decisions such as foundation and piling placement for construction or civil engineering projects, it is imperative that the SPT testing equipment is properly calibrated to ensure accurate results are produced.
Dando’s test facilities are fully compliant to BS EN ISO 22476-3. The calibration equipment provides an accurate measurement of the energy imparted to the rods compared to the theoretical energy of the hammer and Dando provide customers with a signed certificate of calibration.
Dando can now offer calibration certificates on all new hammers and percussive rigs leaving their factory, as well as offering the calibration service to customers with existing SPT equipment.
Equipped with the unique Dando Duplex Drive (3D) sampling system, the Dando Multitec 4000 has been conducting site investigation for the widening of the Panama Canal. With the Bridge of the Americas in the background, the compact, multipurpose rig is seen here drilling at the Pacific entrance in Panama City.
The Dando 3D is a specially designed automatic trip hammer used for taking soft ground undisturbed samples while also advancing casing at the same time.
Fitted with the standard 63.5kg drop weight, the hammer is also capable of SPT (Standard Penetration Testing.) The unique design of the assembly means no additional load is applied to the SPT tooling thus ensuring the best results possible.
The diagrams below demonstrate how the system works.
Purchased back in 2007, Costa Rican customer MYV’s Dando Terrier rig has just drilled two boreholes to a staggering 45m deep, coring with T2-76 through mud and volcanic sands.
Pressure meter tests were also carried out, with pressure limits of 4000 Kpa achieved at 35 metres deep.
